A Program of the Global Mission Partnership Task Force
The Rev. Ted Gaiser and Karen Hotte, of St. Gabriel’s Church in Marion, will be co-leading a mission leadership program trip to Leogane, Haiti, in June 3 – 12, 2011. Our mission team will be working on projects related to rebuilding the hospital and church in Leogane, which are part of the master plan for rebuilding the Diocese of Haiti. What distinguishes MLP trips from other mission trips is the focus on developing leadership skills. In our pre-trip sessions we discuss budgeting, fundraising, cultural awareness, perspectives on mission and relevant church history, healthcare planning, and spiritual preparation, among other topics.
Those interested in applying to participate in this service trip are requested to submit a letter or application form (PDF format) describing why you want to participate, what you bring to the experience, what you hope to gain from this opportunity, and what you intend to do with your experience upon your return. As participants will be required to participate in monthly meetings prior to travel, you are encouraged to describe the ways in which you will make time to fully participate in the program. In addition, participants are encouraged to comment on the ways in which their church and its leadership support their involvement in the program.
